About Julia & Dottie
Get to Know Me
I was born and raised in Colorado, and have spent the majority of my life here, outside of the time I spent living in Berlin, Germany as a student and post-grad. I love reading, kickboxing, spending time with my family, friends, and pets, playing video games, and trying new recipes, but above all I love to travel. It was getting out of the country and exploring new places and cultures that inspired my passion for living each day with the goal of making memories and making an impact.
My interest in animal-assisted interventions, and my belief in the powers of the human-animal bond, is what initially brought me to social work. The core values of the discipline are what kept me in the field, in particular the values of service, social justice, dignity and worth of the person, and the importance of human relationships. I also strive everyday to embody the integrity and competence that are integral to my profession.
A few more facts about me:
- I love visiting farm sanctuaries to hang out with rescued barnyard animals.
- Some of my favorite places I’ve visited around the world include Bosnia and Herzegovina, Rome, and Edinburgh, but Berlin will always be my #1!
- Attending concerts and other live performances is another one of my greatest interests.
