In-Person, Telehealth, and Animal Assisted Therapy for Children and Teens in Denver

Fostering conditions for growth

Child Therapy in Littleton

Is your child struggling to control their emotions or reactions? Has their behavior changed and you’re not sure why? Maybe their grades have dropped; all of a sudden you’re getting calls from the school; they may have withdrawn into themselves, or started lashing out at others.

While children and teens are incredibly resilient, even under the best of circumstances, they may need support from someone outside of the family in order to recover from a major change, or unlock their full potential and thrive. That is where therapy comes in.

Children, Adolescent, and Young Adult Therapy

I work with children, adolescents, and their families. My therapeutic approach is collaborative, client-centered, and strengths-based, & I also believe in integrating fun activities to facilitate relationship-building and keep kids engaged, whether that may be art, games, reading together, or otherwise accommodating their unique interests.

When you love someone who is having a difficult time, it's easy to feel out of your depth or unsure of how to help. Whether your child has been struggling for a while, or something has recently changed and they need professional help for the first time, I am here to support you both. Reach out to me today to start your journey!

Animal Assisted Therapy in Denver

Dorothy Elouise, or Dottie Lou for short, is a rescued mutt from the streets of rural Texas. Prior to being adopted, she was quite ill and subject to unknown traumas; however, her loving and socially-motivated nature has shown through since day one. She is a registered therapy dog through Professional Therapy Dogs of Colorado, having passed their behavioral evaluation in July 2023.

Some benefits of working with therapy animals like Dottie include:

  • Animals help improve motivation and engagement in therapy.
  • Animals provide a sense of security and emotional support. Dogs offer unconditional acceptance.
  • Animals can promote relaxation.
  • Animals can help us learn frustration tolerance and other anger management techniques.
  • Animals can help in the areas of focus and attention.
  • Animals can increase self-confidence and self-esteem.
  • Animals offer humor and fun due to their playful nature.
  • Animals help us to develop empathy, nurturance, and responsibility, and model other skills like forgiveness and patience.
